The principle of the ski trainer works similarly to the rowing machines from the Concept2 workshop, ie on the principle of a resistance air flywheel: the faster you pull, the more resistance you feel. You feel a smooth pull and a quick return.
PM5 performance monitor
The latest model of the ski trainer is equipped with a PM5 monitor, so you get accurate, comparable data every time you row. Each training shows you distance, speed, pace, calories, and watts, and you can view them in one of the following five views: all data, force curve, bar graph, large view, and opponent.
The backlit graphic display provides different kinds of view of your workout. The results can be stored in the monitor’s memory or on any USB key. You can adjust the angle of the monitor to provide a better view. The PM5 monitor enables ANT + and Bluetooth Smart (not Bluetooth) wireless heart rate monitoring. To take advantage of this feature, you will need a chest strap that works on one of these two transfer technologies.
The PM5 monitor works with two D cell batteries. During training, the monitor charges when the flywheel wheel rotates, extending battery life.
Flywheel wheel and resistance flap
Concept2 ski trainers use air resistance and this creates unlimited load possibilities during exercise. You can use the resistance flap to quickly adjust how much air will flow into the flywheel. The resistance of the machine is directly proportional to the force you exert on the machine – the more force you expend, the more abundant the training. The flywheel wheel has been designed to minimize noise and maximize smoothness.
High strength elastic rope
The elastic rope is made of Dyneema® material, which is 15 times stronger than steel. At the same time, it weighs less, and therefore responds more sensitively and quickly to the rowers’ movement, especially at a fast pace of rowing.
The handles are ergonomically shaped, so they guarantee a firm grip and comfortable skiing.
Sturdy construction that is easy to maintain
